Manitoba’s Provincial Nominee Program

The Province of Manitoba has a Provincial Nominee Program for Skilled Workers. This program allows Manitoba to select or nominate individuals for permanent resident status in Canada who can demonstrate that they have the skills and adaptability necessary to contribute to the economy of Manitoba.

Manitoba received 11,230 new immigrants in 2008, 71 per cent through the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program and13,500 newcomers in 2009, 75 per cent through the Program.

More recently, the federal government has stated that Manitoba’s provincial nominee program will be capped at 5,000 nominees this year and next year.
